A pre-game reception at Z’s Villa begins at 5 p.m. Then head over to City Sports Arena for the women’s hockey game vs. Syracuse University at 7:05 p.m. Shuttle service to and from the game is available. Cost is $15 for alumni association members and their guests, $10 for currently enrolled WSU students and $20 for others. Cost includes appetizers, two beer tickets, shuttle service and game ticket. The documentary is narrated by Liam Neeson and takes a spectacular look at the beautiful winter night skies. Mingle and enjoy refreshments and exciting science demos between shows.

Women of Wayne Alumni Association Federal Reserve Tour

Get a behind-the-scenes view of the Detroit Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago with an hour-long tour with the Women of Wayne alumni association. The event begins at noon with lunch at the Fed Reserve Bank at 1600 E. Warren in Detroit, followed by a 1:30 tour. The tour includes a discussion of the Federal Reserve System, tour of the cash department consisting of millions of dollars and observation of money shredding. Cost is $30 and advance reservations are required due to security at the Federal Reserve. You must be at least 15 years old to attend.

The alumni association presents the Arthur L. Johnson Urban Perspectives Lecture Series featuring Robert C. Bobb, emergency financial manager for Detroit Public Schools. His work experience includes president of the Washington, D.C., Board of Education; city administrator and being deputy mayor for Washington D.C.; District of Columbia homeland security advisor; and city manager for Richmond, Va., Santa Ana, Calif., and Kalamazoo, Mich. He is an expert on issues facing urban government in the areas of education, economic development, community and neighborhood development, and municipal budgeting and finance. The lecture is free, but reservations are encouraged. Visitor parking is available in structure 1 located on the northwest corner of Palmer Street and Cass Avenue. $4.25 exact change is required.

Robert C. Bobb, emergency financial manager for Detroit Public Schools, will deliver remarks and Keith Johnson, President of the Detroit Federation of Teachers, will deliver the morning keynote address. A panel of noted educators and leaders will join Johnson. A continental breakfast and lunch are provided. The event is free and state Board continuing education units (SBceus) will be given to participants who attend for the entire day.
