Bring your blanket and chair for a fun-filled family fireworks tailgate. Feast on hamburgers, hot dogs, watermelon and other summer treats. Bring a game to play or test your skills in ladder golf or corn toss. Children’s activities will be provided. Then enjoy one of the largest and most dynamic fireworks displays in the world. 
Cost is $10 for alumni association members, their guests and currently enrolled WSU students. $15 for non-members. Cost includes food, games and children’s activities. Optional parking in Structure #7 is available. No refunds. $4.25 for Parking Structure #7 pass. Parking Structure #7 is located approximately 1.5 miles from the fireworks display. The display can be viewed from the top floor with limited obstruction. Alcohol is not permitted. Rain date is Tuesday, June 22. Sponsored by Liberty Mutual.

Members of the university, Midtown and broader Detroit community are invited to visit the Wayne State Wednesday Farmers Market on Wednesdays from June 9 to Oct. 27. The market features fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs; cider and fresh-cut flowers; honey; baked goods and desserts and hot prepared foods. The market is located in front of Prentis Hall on Cass Avenue, just north of Warren Avenue and across the street from the Detroit Public Library. Free 15-minute parking is available on Cass Avenue. The farmers market accepts cash, Bridge Card, WSU One Card, and Michigan's Project Fresh and Senior Project Fresh Coupons. The Wayne State Wednesday Farmers Market is a project of SEED Wayne.

ISAAC Round Table on African American Education

The Institute for the Study of the African-American Child (ISAAC) will host a weekend of events that aims to find innovative solutions to closing the academic achievement gap affecting African-American children beginning Friday, July 16.

The weekend kicks off at 6 p.m. with a VIP reception at the Marriott Hotel in the Renaissance Center. Saturday's events include a keynote address by Dr. Geneva Gay, an author and professor of curriculum and instruction at the University of Washington, Seattle. The address will be followed by a round table discussion at the Student Center Building, 5221 Gullen Mall.

Registration begins at 7 a.m. Saturday, July 16, at the Student Center. A soul food jazz buffet featuring the Brandon Parker Trio will follow the round table discussion at the McGregor Memorial Conference Center.

Cost for the VIP reception is $75, $100 for the round table discussion and an additional $35 for the buffet. Hotel accommodations are available at the Marriott Hotel in the Renaissance Center for $129 a night plus tax, or at the Inn on Ferry Street on Wayne State's campus for $109 a night.
