Stick around after the game for a brilliant fireworks display at Comerica Park.

Cost is $34 for alumni association members and their guests, currently enrolled WSU students and children under 13. $39 for others. Children under 3 do not require a reservation or ticket, however, they must share a seat with an adult. Cost includes admission to the pre-game reception, game ticket and fireworks. Seats are located in the bleacher section.

Members of the university, Midtown and broader Detroit community are invited to visit the Wayne State Wednesday Farmers Market on Wednesdays from June 9 to Oct. 27. The market features fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs; cider and fresh-cut flowers; honey; baked goods and desserts and hot prepared foods. The market is located in front of Prentis Hall on Cass Avenue, just north of Warren Avenue and across the street from the Detroit Public Library. Free 15-minute parking is available on Cass Avenue. The farmers market accepts cash, Bridge Card, WSU One Card, and Michigan's Project Fresh and Senior Project Fresh Coupons. The Wayne State Wednesday Farmers Market is a project of SEED Wayne.

ISAAC Round Table on African American Education

The Institute for the Study of the African-American Child (ISAAC) will host a weekend of events that aims to find innovative solutions to closing the academic achievement gap affecting African-American children beginning Friday, July 16.

The weekend kicks off at 6 p.m. with a VIP reception at the Marriott Hotel in the Renaissance Center. Saturday's events include a keynote address by Dr. Geneva Gay, an author and professor of curriculum and instruction at the University of Washington, Seattle. The address will be followed by a round table discussion at the Student Center Building, 5221 Gullen Mall.

Registration begins at 7 a.m. Saturday, July 16, at the Student Center. A soul food jazz buffet featuring the Brandon Parker Trio will follow the round table discussion at the McGregor Memorial Conference Center.

Cost for the VIP reception is $75, $100 for the round table discussion and an additional $35 for the buffet. Hotel accommodations are available at the Marriott Hotel in the Renaissance Center for $129 a night plus tax, or at the Inn on Ferry Street on Wayne State's campus for $109 a night.

This year’s films promise to be the highest quality and most entertaining the festival has provided to date. The growing prominence of Michigan in the film industry has led to an increase in the number and quality of submissions, and this year, for the first time, DWIFF is partnering with the WSU MovingMedia Student Film Festival to feature submissions from student filmmakers from Wayne State and other regional colleges and universities. Wayne County Executive, Robert A. Ficano and Wayne State University are sponsoring the event.
