Campaign Countdown Continues Join us as we celebrate the success of Wayne First: The Campaign for Wayne State University with several local and regional events.
Each event will be held from 6-8 p.m. and includes a strolling reception, a brief program with remarks from fellow alumni and a presentation of the new video Making Wayne First.

Alumni Board Elects Officers The Wayne State University Alumni Association Board of Directors elected the following officers at its June meeting:
James Garavaglia of Ann Arbor. He is senior vice president and director of corporate compliance for Comerica Inc. He is serving as president.
Eva Garza Dewaelsche of Detroit. She is president of SER Metro Detroit, Jobs for Progress Inc. She is serving as vice president for development.
James McLennan of Bloomfield. He is president of Willow Development Co. He is serving as vice president for finance.
Mitchell Ritter of Macomb. He is assistant superintendent for Clintondale Community Schools. He is serving as vice president for membership.

Get Cooking With Giulio Live! Kick your culinary skills up a notch! Join us for Giulio Live!, an all-new culinary adventure with Wayne State alumni.
Dig into the regional tastes of Italy at The Towers Residential Suites café on campus as Giulio Fattore, executive chef at of AVI Foodsystems at the McGregor Memorial Conference Center, prepares a four-course meal. Not only will you learn to prepare these dishes at home, you’ll also sample the day’s culinary masterpieces, which include a roasted melon and proscuitto salad, chicken Tosca with lemon caper sauce, homemade pastas with two sauce variations, and tiramisu.
Each participant will receive a special gift and a binder with the menu and recipes. Participate in other classes that will be offered later in the fall, and you’re on your way to developing a rich repertoire of gourmet classics.
The culinary adventure is 1-4 p.m. Sept. 20. Cost is $58 per person. Space is limited, so please reserve immediately.

Here’s your chance to get the yearbook you might have forgotten to purchase when you were a student.
The alumni association has a variety of yearbooks from the late '80s to the present. Quantities are limited and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Join Us for the Golden Jubilee Reunion Graduates of 1958 and earlier: Mark your calendars for the alumni association Golden Jubilee Reunion on Oct. 10.
The event begins at noon at the McGregor Memorial Conference Center. Guests will enjoy a bus tour of Wayne State's dynamic campus and several new developments in the city of Detroit, visit the renowned Hilberry Theatre for a vignette performance, and view an exclusive narrated show at the planetarium in Old Main. A gala reception and program will follow in which alumni will be inducted into the prestigious Alumni Golden Circle.

Troy-based Raytheon Professional Services LLC will host an open house to look for training and development specialists and graphic artists.
Also, Syracuse, N.Y.-based Crouse Hospital is hiring physician assistants.

Alumni Travel Preview Scheduled Be among the first to learn about alumni association tours planned for 2009 at the alumni Travel Preview on Sunday, Sept. 14.
The annual Travel Preview will feature travel agency representatives and tour presentations. The event begins at noon at the Wayne State University Oakland Center in Farmington Hills.
Upcoming tours for 2009 include Essence of India; Dubai; South America Cruise; Italy's Lake Garda and the French Alps; Jewels of the Mediterranean; Paris and the French Riviera; Enchanting Ireland; Dynamic Beijing, and more. Click here for a complete list of 2009 tours.

Graduate School Offers Open House
Learn about the master's degree you always wanted and apply for admission at no charge at Wayne State's Graduate School Open House on Thursday, July 10.
The open house is from 3-7 p.m. at the Wayne State University Welcome Center on the corner of Woodward and Warren.
A master’s degree from Wayne State could make a difference for you in this increasingly dire job market. It will set you apart whether you are looking for advancement within your current job or a change in career.
Admissions and program representatives will be on hand to review applications and advise applicants. The $50 application fee will be waived for on-site participants. The

Sixth Annual Wayne State Football Golf Outing
Wayne State Athletics and the Athletics Alumni Association will host the sixth annual Wayne State Football Golf Outing on Friday, July 11.
This year's Football Golf Outing, at Sycamore Hills Golf Club in Macomb, promises to be the best yet! Players, alumni and guests from the past 50 years will get together and help support the Warrior Football Program.
Cost is $150 and includes 18 holes with cart, lunch at the turn, prizes, a silent auction and a buffet dinner.

Swing for the Students at Golf Outing The School of Business Administration Alumni Association will hold its second Swing for the Students Golf Outing at the Detroit Golf Club on July 28.
Lear Corporation is the title sponsor of this annual event, which last year raised $20,000 for School of Business Administration scholarships. The funds seeded an endowed scholarship fund. Money raised at this year's event will be added to the endowment. Two scholarships of $2,500 each will be awarded for the 2008-2009 school year.

ISAAC Hosts Roundtable
The Institute for the Study of the African American Child (ISAAC), a new research center located within Wayne State's College of Education, will host the inaugural Round Table on African American Education on Saturday, July 19.
The event will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the McGregor Memorial Conference Center. The registration fee is $100. An afterglow party will follow the event and will feature a soul food jazz buffet and the Jerome Perry Plus jazz combo. Cost for the afterglow is $35. Click here for more information.
The College of Education also will sponsor the Throw Down in Motown, a fundraiser for ISAAC, on Friday, July 18. The event begins at 8 p.m. at the Renaissance Center Marriott Hotel. Cost is $75.
