Sandra E. Pierce, president and CEO of Charter One Bank of Michigan and Indiana, began her banking career when she joined National Bank of Detroit as a teller while attending Wayne State. Today she is president & CEO of Charter One, Michigan, responsible for all state bank activities, the commercial banking business, and local marketing and community giving. Pierce’s extensive community involvement includes the current role of Chairman of the Detroit Regional Chamber, the largest chamber of commerce in the country. Meet Evelyn Aschenbrenner, author of A History of Wayne State University in Photographs (Wayne State University Press 2009), at three events this fall.

In A History of Wayne State in Photographs, Aschenbrenner surveys more than 140 years’ worth of historical photos and archival material to give readers a complete visual guide to Wayne State’s development. A thoughtful introduction by Charles K. Hyde, a foreword by Bill McGraw, a timeline of university events, and a list of university presidents complete this informative and attractive volume.
