Susan T. Mosey has been the president of the University Cultural Center Association (UCCA) in Detroit for 24 years.  This nonprofit organization, newly reconstituted as Midtown Detroit, Inc., is responsible for community development, marketing, public space maintenance, security services, real estate and small business development and arts programming within Detroit’s University Cultural Center and New Center districts – an area now known as Midtown.  Projects that have been undertaken by the organization under her direction include public improvements such as new streetscapes and park development, greenway planning and construction, and residential and commercial real estate development and management. The organization also produces a number of signature arts events for the district, including Art X Detroit and Noel Night.

Ms. Mosey is a graduate of Wayne State University with a degree in Urban Planning.

Maggie DeSantis is founder and president of the Warren/Conner Development Coalition (WCDC), one of Detroit’s largest and most successful community organizations. Since 1984, the WCDC has served as a catalyst to improve the quality of life for residents. Under DeSantis’ leadership, the WCDC has focused on community partnerships, youth substance abuse prevention, after school programs, community farming initiatives and redevelopment/land use issues. Signs of revitalization in the area include the development of the 60,000 square-foot Mack Alter Square shopping center, a revitalized Warren/Conner Shopping Center and hundreds of new homes.

Ms. DeSantis is a graduate of Wayne State University and Central Michigan University.
