Johnson Urban Perspectives Lectures series on how the&nbsp;U.S. Attorney's Office&nbsp;is using federal resources to improve our community. The United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan, Barbara L. McQuade, will discuss how her office serves the 6.5 million people living in the eastern half of Michigan&rsquo;s lower peninsula. As part of the U.S. Department of Justice, the office&nbsp;prosecutes criminal cases, bring civil actions and defend the federal government in federal court.=0D=0A=

Barbara L. McQuade was appointed by President Barack Obama, and began serving on Jan. 4, 2010. Before becoming U.S. Attorney, McQuade served as an assistant U.S. attorney in Detroit for 12 years. She was deputy chief of the National Security Unit, where she prosecuted cases involving terrorism financing, foreign agents, export violations, and threats. =0D=0A=
